We are a church plant with the Acts 29 network that is planting a church in Sydney City to serve Jesus and love a city.
White Horse is a new church plant that has in essence already started (we are at our third venue... not because we get kicked out of the old one but because we have outgrown it... which is totally great). We love Jesus, love this city, and we really kind of enjoy the culture in it. So in that vein we seek to know our culture, love our people and see lives transformed to live for Jesus. We really are not about shuffling the proverbial Christian deck in Sydney, but rather we are about making disciples from scratch, using contextually relevant methods as a vehicle for bringing the unchanging Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our name is derived from "The white horse inn", which was where the early reformers in England met on cold nights over warm beer to discuss, pray, prepare and plan for the revival... the revolution... that dangerous idea that was the reformation. Historians trace the roots of the reformation in England back to the stirrings in that same Pub... Its quite a compelling story I think, and is well in line with the hopes that many of us have for a modern reformation in Australia.
